About Vanessa

I’m an independent vet, surgeon, clinic owner and the human behind Nessa the Vet.

I created this space to make pet advice clearer, veterinary life more honest, and the industry a little easier to understand.

Woman with long dark hair, wearing a pink feather boa, striped pants, colorful high heels, sitting on a black chair with legs apart, holding a clapperboard in one hand and a pink microphone with a pig face in her other hand, smiling and talking into the microphone, against a yellow background.

MEET YOUR HOST

The vet behind the mic, the clinic and the chaos.

I’m Vanessa, a Cambridge trained veterinary surgeon, advanced practitioner in orthopaedics and founder of The Vet Station.

I’ve spent years helping pets and their people through everything from routine appointments to complex surgery, rescue cases, emergencies and the occasional “my dog ate what?” situation.

Through Nessa the Vet, I share honest pet advice, behind the scenes clinic life and the conversations people do not always get to hear about the veterinary world.

Serious medicine. Human explanations. Absolutely no corporate waffle.

A PODCAST WHERE REAL CONVERSATIONS BEGIN

This podcast is a space for honest conversations, unfiltered stories, and the kind of truths we don’t always say out loud. Here, we talk about growth, confidence, life lessons, and everything in between, with humor, heart, and zero pressure to be perfect. It’s about showing up as you are, learning as you go, and feeling a little less alone along the way.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Pet owners deserve the truth, not a panic spiral.

I believe veterinary advice should be clear, honest and human.

Pet owners should understand what is happening, why it matters and what their options are, without feeling judged, confused or scared into making decisions.

That is why I talk openly about pet health, vet bills, surgery, rescue work and the realities of the veterinary industry.

Good medicine matters.

So does good communication.

What I stand for

Clarity

01.

I want pet owners to understand what is going on with their animals without needing a veterinary degree or a terrifying Google search.

Honesty

02.

I believe in saying the useful thing, even when it is awkward, complicated or not what people expected to hear.

Honesty

“Pet owners deserve answers they can actually understand.”
